Makeba Dixon-Hill
As the child of a country boy who fell in love with an urban hippie and co-created a Georgia Peach, I was taught to embrace deep listening and exploration with wonder and respect. Both of my parents prioritized movement, and it was my mother who exposed me to yoga as a child.
My commitment to the healing arts led me to complete yoga teacher training in 2013 because I wanted to support my peers in tending to their wellness practices while they served others as educators, artists, and caregivers. The study of yoga afforded me the opportunity to participate in mindfulness trainings in Georgia, Illinois, Massachusetts, New York, Paris, Lisbon and throughout Peru. In 2021, I became a Wholistic Prenatal Yoga Instructor and two years later, I received my Level 1 Tantric Meditation Instructor certification. My many teachers have been instrumental in expanding my heart, showing me that I can do hard things, and demonstrating how there is room for everyone to blossom among others in the garden of their purpose work. Thank y'all!
In our classes, my background in art therapy, creative writing and movement will root us in care and mind body awareness. You can expect a few surprises along the way with the incorporation of props, metaphors, and practical tools that can be applied on and off the mat. In advance, thank you for practicing; it helps make the world a better place.
